Each day, UI Laundry Services processes about 24,000 pounds of linens. Most of the processed linens are for UI Hospitals & Clinics and range from washcloths and blankets to healthcare scrubs and lab coats. The team of 45 staff at Laundry Services is dedicated to their work, and it has taken on greater meaning during the pandemic.

Drawn by the decent wages, Brandon Wong joined CAMBUS—the university's public-transit system—as a driver when he was a junior psychology major and Hawkeye student-athlete. After spending several months behind the wheel of a 14-ton bus, he was ready for a change—and had put in enough driving and bus-cleaning time to earn it. Though he had no prior experience with engines, Wong landed the coveted position of student mechanic and completed a three-week training, shadowing other students to learn the trade.

UI Commuter Programs releases updated and improved My Van Pool for employees

University of Iowa Parking and Transportation has redeveloped the Van Pool Management System and My Van Pool portal because the previous system language has become obsolete. All the improvements made will help quicken the waitlist process and make program membership more efficient. The improved management system and member portal is available for faculty and staff use beginning Feb. 23, 2021.
