During home football games in the fall semester, CAMBUS provides shuttle services from select parking lots to near Kinnick Stadium. In addition to the extra shuttle service, regular CAMBUS routes are modified during home football games on Saturdays.

UI seeks approval for Tippie College of Business facility expansion

The University of Iowa is seeking approval from the Iowa Board of Regents to create more space for the growing Tippie College of Business. Editor's note: The Iowa Board of Regents approved this project at its meeting on June 13. This multi-stage project would include enclosing the internal courtyard patio of Pappajohn Business Building and modernizing the adjacent Gilmore Hall for the college’s use. Additional UI-owned land across Clinton Street from the Pappajohn Business Building will be considered in planning for future Tippie program needs.

UI receives Tree Campus Higher Education Award

Just in time for Earth Month, the University of Iowa was once again designated a 2022 Tree Campus USA award by the Tree Campus Higher Education Program. The award was presented to the Facilities Management Landscape Services tree crew by the Arbor Day Foundation and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources during the annual Community Forestry Awards luncheon on April 12.

UI opens a new home for its storied wrestling programs

After years of planning, fundraising, and development, the University of Iowa wrestling programs have a new training center that complements their world-class competition home at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Coaches, athletes, administrators, fans, and donors celebrated the dedication of the Goschke Family Wrestling Training Center on May 30. The 38,000-square-foot facility is the new training home of the Iowa men’s and women’s wrestling programs. The wrestling room on the south end of the building is connected by underground tunnel to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, recognized as one of the best wrestling venues in the world.

Office of Clery Compliance expands Clery Geography with addition of UI Health Care downtown Campus

The University of Iowa Office of Clery Compliance has updated its Clery geography following the acquisition of the UI Health Care Medical Center Downtown, 500 E. Market St. A university’s Clery geography is used to guide decision-making when it comes to communicating about confirmed or potential safety threats to the campus community. The Clery Act requires all institutions of higher education participating in the federal student financial aid program to maintain two types of alerting systems for separate and distinct purposes.

Campus Safety adds 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline Decals to Squad Cars

Campus Safety is proud to announce it has prominently placed 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline decals on all police squad cars and Nite Ride vehicles to enhance student well-being and make information about mental health resources more accessible to the community. The University of Iowa is among the first Big Ten universities to add 988 to its campus safety vehicles. The new decals feature the national suicide and crisis lifeline number, which offers those in crisis a direct and confidential connection to trained counselors who can provide immediate assistance.

The University of Iowa Police Department has added a new K9 to its team. K9 Bella — a German Shepherd trained in explosives detection, tracking, and article search — will work alongside her handler, Officer Daniel Huggar. The pair were matched earlier this spring, and recently completed their training at Ironheart Training Center in Ottawa, Kan.

The UI Police Department has teamed up with Hospital Safety and Security to host a series of bike registration events on the UI Health Care University Campus. Registering your bike makes it easier for you to file a police report if your bike is stolen, and easier for law enforcement to return it to you if it is located.

UI receives $16M grant for Cambus system improvements

With the help of a federal grant, big changes are coming to Cambus that will help the University of Iowa meet sustainability goals and increase the bus system’s efficiency. The Federal Transit Administration awarded the University of Iowa a $16.4 million grant for improvements to the Cambus system, including the purchase of six new battery-electric buses that will help the UI reach its sustainability goals. In addition, the funds will help provide updates to the Cambus Maintenance Facility.
