For Employees
The university is never fully closed, and essential operations continue even during extreme weather. Employees are expected to make reasonable efforts to report to work while using good judgment and avoiding serious travel risks. Decisions about delays or reduced operations are made using input from Emergency Management, Facilities Management, Campus Safety, and other partners, and are communicated through Hawk Alert and official university channels. Employees are encouraged to communicate proactively with supervisors and review winter weather policies and available support services.
For Students
Classes and campus services continue as long as students and instructors can safely travel to and from campus. Students should use good judgment during winter weather and communicate directly with instructors if conditions prevent safe attendance. University leaders closely monitor forecasts and campus conditions, and any operational changes are shared through Hawk Alert and other official communication channels. Resources such as snow and ice removal reporting, transit updates, and winter transportation options are available to help students navigate campus safely.
