Wendy Moorehead
Wendy Moorehead is the senior director of strategic communications for Finance and Operations (F&O). She manages executive communications for the senior vice president for F&O and other administrative leaders within F&O. She also leads communications for Facilities Management (FM).
Moorehead has over 25 years of communications experience at Iowa, including 16 years leading communications for FM programs and initiatives. Her experience includes strategic messaging, employee communications and engagement, branding, media relations, social media, and internal and external website development and management. During her tenure in FM, she has led communications surrounding significant events such as the flood of 2008, the Public Private Partnership (P3), and the pandemic of 2020.
Prior to joining FM, she served as external relations director for the UI's National Advanced Driving Simulator (now Driving Safety Research Insititute), assistant director of the Dual Career Network, and assistant to the associate provost for International Programs, Office of the Provost. Outside the UI, she worked in talent recruitment and placement for television news (Frank N Magid Associates), and in employee and personal coaching and training.
Moorehead is a graduate of the UI Tippie College of Business with a BBA in marketing. She is a long-time active member of the Public Relations Society of America.
After college graduation, Moorehead and her husband lived in Seattle, Washington, for several years prior to moving back to the Iowa City area to be closer to family. Her siblings and son are also graduates of the University of Iowa. Her family has been active supporters of many causes over the years with special interest and advocacy for the prevention of heart disease and stroke. In their free time, they enjoy spending time together as a family, traveling, and adventuring, especially in the desert southwest.
