Terry Johnson serves as the chief financial officer and treasurer of the University of Iowa and has been with the university since 1994. Prior to becoming the CFO in 2015, he served as associate vice president and controller.   

During his tenure at the university, he has led several Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementations, participated in Shared Services initiatives, helped develop and implement a Responsibility Center Management (RCM) budget model and completed several public-private partnership (P3) initiatives, including the recently finalized $1.165 billion P3 utility system transaction.

Prior to joining the university, Johnson worked for a privately held consulting firm. He is a CPA (inactive) and holds an MBA with an emphasis on management information systems and finance from the University of Iowa. 

Johnson serves on boards of the university’s affiliated organizations, including the president’s cabinet and the Board of Regents audit and investment committee, and has served as a member of the COGR Costing Policies Committee during the implementation of the Federal Government’s Uniform Guidance.
