The University of Iowa sought Iowa Board of Regents approval for the construction of multiple UI Health Care facilities at the board’s April 22 meeting.
The first is a $7 million project that would move the Grounds Department from its current location in Hospital Parking Ramp 1 to a new facility adjacent to the new water tower. The facility would include storage, offices, rest areas, break rooms, and shop space.
The proposed North Liberty Medical Center expansion is a $24 million project with two phases. The first phase would develop Level 2 space into operating rooms, post-anesthesia care unit rooms, and surgery prep/recovery rooms, while the second phase would develop Level 4 space into a clinical exam pod. The project would be funded by UI Health Care earnings and equity and continue through summer 2027.
